Paradise isn’t always Tropical

Paradise isn’t always Tropical

I always get eyerolls when I say that I love snow and cold weather. What I don’t like is gray days without sunshine. Bright sunshine brings joy to me no matter what the temperature feels like. Loving winter does not mean not liking warm temperatures. It only means that I love all seasons. I feel blessed to be living in a place that brings the beauty of the four seasons. So, yes to me Paradise isn’t always Tropical.

New year 2022 rang in with a snow storm and has brought tons (read few inches) of snow. I already feel contented with this year. As an introvert I feel grateful for the snow storm that gave me an extra reason to stay warm at home with cozy sweater, fuzzy socks and snuggle with a good book.

If you feel grumpy about the winter in general, read my post about how to be happier in winter that I wrote couple years ago. In my post you can find few tips to navigate though the season even if you don’t like it.

As I write this post, I see kids clad in snow gears playing in the snow, sledding in the slopes of the snow covered valley around the cul-de-sac.

Have you heard about the Scandinavian saying ? –

There’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing

Your outlook about winter will change if you read the book “There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather” by a Scandinavian mom Linda Åkeson McGurk. I read this book few years ago when my kids were still in pre-school. I know I sound partial, but it is definitely a good read 🙂

There is something good to find everyday and I found mine today – the fresh snow of the season! Here is to happy and blessed 2022!

What are you feeling happy and thankful for today?
